Skirwith sits in a rural corner of the Eden Valley, but there are several ways to get to Penrith, Carlisle and beyond by public transport.

The Fellrunner Village Bus

A community bus run and driven by local volunteers, serving the villages around Penrith with regular routes to Penrith and Carlisle. Most services allow around 3 hours in Penrith and 4 hours in Carlisle — ideal for shopping, appointments and errands.

Drop-off points include Penrith Health Centre, Sainsbury's, the town centre, railway station (by request) and the bus station; in Carlisle, London Road, Botchergate, Court Square (for the station) and the bus station, with the Cumberland Infirmary by request.

The Extra Mile — Bookable Bus Service

A flexible, bookable bus service for outlying areas around Penrith, run by Westmorland and Furness Council and supported by the Rural Mobility Fund. It's designed for areas where scheduled bus services aren't viable, helping people reach work, education, appointments and social activities.
